Iris container with a tray

Joann’s had a 50% off sale on all their storage stuff plus a 25% off coupon of the total purchase including sale items so I was checking out the storage area  when I found two Iris containers with tray inserts sitting on a shelf.  I was super happy to save money and get these awesome containers at the same time, but to be honest I would have bought the containers without the sale or the coupon.

I’ve seen other crafters with these type of  Iris trays on youtube, but I haven’t been able to find them at any of the craft stores I go to so when I saw these at Joann’s I snatched them up quick and searched the shelves for more.  Sadly I only found the two. I’ve been back to Joann’s several times since then, but I haven’t seen any more of them.

I’m using the Iris container and trays to sort and store my Citrus Twist Kits.  I keep the embellishments in the tray  and put the tray on top the paper and any large sticker sheets that I put in the bottom of the container.

Because I only have the two containers with trays I keep my most recent kit in one and combine the previous months kits in the other.

Freckled Foot

I asked my daughter McKayla if I could take a picture of the freckle on the bottom of her foot because I wanted to make a scrapbook page about it.  She agreed, but she was like “Oh Mom.” and she covered her face when I took the picture.

image

I wanted use bright colors for this page because McKayla’s favorite colors are bright pink and orange.

The backflow ground paper and the paper the photo is matted on are from my Citrus Twist Kit . the background paper is by Citrus Twist  and it has little pink, yellow and orange triangles all over it.  The paper I matted the photo on is by Pink Paislee. I used the front and back side the the Pink Paislee page.  One side was pink with black dotted circles and the other side was a black and white stripe.

   image

I made a yellow tag with a die,  my Cuttlebug and a yellow gingham patterned paper from my stash.  The yellow paper was pretty thin so I cut two tags from the yellow paper and glued them together to make the tag sturdier.

I scattered pink sequins around the page.  The sequins also came from a Citrus Twist Kit.  There were pink and blue sequins in the kit, but I only used the pink ones on this layout.  The sequins are made of a thicker plastic than any I have seen before and they have a bit of an iridescent shine to them.

The alpha stickers were also from a kit. They are a peachy orange color and are they are kind of  translucent, but they didn’t come with any manufacture information so I don’t know who made them.

image

I also added one puffy butterfly sticker to the bottom right of the photo.  The sticker is from an American Crafts Thickers sheet that, again, was in my Citrus Twist Kit.

Some of the embellishments in the kit came in a small glassine bag.  I saved the bag and used it to hold the tag that’s being the photo.  I wrote my journaling on the tag and stamped the top of the tag with a stamp from the kit that said “seriously cute”.

I kept this page pretty simple, and I love it!

Citrus Twist Kit – January 2016 Main Kit

I received my first kit club kit!

After watching many of my favorite youtubers using kits on their layouts I began checking into some.

They were all great looking, but I chose the Citrus Twist main kit because it was within my budget and (from what I could tell) it comes with a stamp set each month

I received a few extra things for being a new customer.

  • an extra stamp set
  • a chipboard frame
  • a tag
  • some wood veneer pieces
  • and a piece of flair

The kit came with:

  • a brown paper bag tied with pretty string
  • a page that had sketches and inspiration pieces
  • Heidi Swapp veneer words
  • glittery plus sign stickers
  • Heidi Swapp puffy stickers
  • Citrus twist tiny wood veneer pieces
  • Heidi Swapp phrase stickers
  • Seven Paper alpha stickers
  • a Citrus Twist cut apart sheet
  • 6 patterned papers
  • one white 12 x 12
  • one cream 12 x 12

Below is a video of what came in the kit along with the few extra thing they sent me for being a new customer.

I can’t wait to make some layouts with all theses goodies!

Scrapbook page – I love your smile

I’ve only started scrapbooking this past year so I have a lot of older pictures waiting for me to make pages with.

McKayla is 11 now, but I loved making a layout with this picture of her from when she was a baby.  Her chubby cheeks are gone now, but she still has that cute dimple.

image

For the patterned paper is used a Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm paper pad by American Crafts.

I matted the photo on black card stock.

I added doilies behind the red and pink script patterned paper strip and the photo.

Around the picture I placed a flower die cut, a yellow circle with a  heart in the middle and a sparkley butterfly sticker.

Below is a process video for the page.

Hiking Adventure Layout and process video

I loved using pieces from my Citrus Twist January 2016 main kit, watercolors and stamps on this layout.

The watercolor was inspired by a Crafty Maven Getaway inspiration piece linked below.

Inspiration Pieces

The photos on this layout are from hiking trip at Cuivre River State Part.  My sister and her husband took my girls and their daughter Katie on this hike as a part of Katie’s birthday weekend.

(I didn’t include Katie or her parents on this page because at the time I did this layout I hadn’t asked them yet if it was ok for me to post photos of them.  I have since asked and now have their permission to include them in future pages.)

image

Most of he  paper for this page came from my January Citrus twist kit, but I did use some scraps to die cut the leaves.

I used my StampeRor to stamp the wild flowers and dragon flies.

I added dragon flies and some black gems to the page after I finished filming, but you can see the rest of the processes in the video below.

2015 December Daily pages

I previously shared my December Daily album cover and the pages of the album that I made in advance.  There are the finished album pages.

I moved things around on the pre-made pages as needed and added more embellishments once the pictures where placed.

I also added an additional page in the back of the album for extra Christmas Day pictures I wanted to include.

image   image

This was my first December Daily album and I’m really happy with how it turned out.  My favorite aspect of the project was how it helped me be more aware and focus on what was happening in our lives. There were a few days I forgot to take a picture or make note of what we were doing so I used pictures from a past Christmas  for one of the days I missed and made a list of my favorite Christmas songs for another.

December Daily 2015

This year I am attempting to do a December Daily Album.

image

I started with a DCWV Album Made Easy and inked both outside covers with Tim Holtz Distress Ink  walnut stain to get the dark brown color you see in the picture above.

The gold letters and year on the cover are from a Sticko alphabet sheet .

To keep it simple  and cohesive I decided to use one paper pad for the whole album. I chose DCWV Merry Memories 12 x12  cardstock paper pad that I purchased at JoAnn’s. I love the colors of the paper and the glitter that’s on some of the pages.
For embellishments I chose Pink Paislee Snow Village ephemera pack, Heidi Swapp Oh What Fun chipboard die cuts and a roll of gold glitter washi tape.  The colors of the chipboard pieces and the ephemera pack went really well with the paper pad.

For the cover, as previously mentioned, I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink  walnut stain to get the dark brown color.

The stars are from the two embellishment packs accept for the large red star on the right side which is die cut from a sheet of the paper pad is used for the album.

The trees also came from the embellishment packs I previously mentions.  I added two pieces of wood veneer I cut down to serve as the trunks of the red tree and the smaller green tree next to the red one.

The green behind the trees at the bottom is gold washi tape inked over with olive green Stazon. ink.

To get the curve in the word December I laid a large oval die on the book and used the edge to line up my letters.

I had so much fun making the cover for the album that I went on to pre-make the base pages of the album and discovered that with the additional paper and embellishments the gold binding comb on the album wasn’t wide enough.  I tried removing some pages, keeping it to at least 25 to make it to Christmas, but there still wasn’t going to be enough room so I removed the original binding and used three binding rings instead.

image     image

The binding rings worked great and now I have room to add my pictures more embellishments.

Below are the pages I pre-made for my December Daily 2015 Album.

Scrapbook Page – Fall in Love

I love fall; the crisp cool weather and the gorgeous color of the leaves.   Emma took this great picture  of my aunt and uncle sitting on a stone wall with beautiful fall trees in the back ground when they were all spending the day together apple picking.

image

I matted the photos on dark brown card stock.

The paper strips came from my scraps.

I used a Paper Studio punch for the gold and orange leaves.

image

The squirrel, heart and arrows are wood embellishments I colored with ink and a marker for the squirrel.

I used Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Gold Lame for the splatter.

The tag is a studiog chip board sticker and the alphabet stickers are by Sticko.

Scrapbook Pocket Page – The Magic House

The Magic House was one of our favorite places to go as a family when the girls were younger.   It’s filled with a variety of hands on playing and learning areas like the grocery store, a bank, a pizza parlor, a library and so much more.  On this visit there was a new veterinary area where the kids could pretend to care for stuffed animals. My girls loved it and were there quite awhile giving check ups to the various animals.

image

This is my first pocket page layout.

The pocket page is We R Memory keepers, but the cards are Project Life Maggie Holmes addition Core Kit.

image

For the title I used Sticko alphabet stickers.

image

I added a few paper strips as banners to a couple of the cards.
