Sketch it out Thursday CMG

My first video for The Crafty Maven Getaway channel is up.  It’s actually been up for a couple of weeks, but I forgot to post about it here and I also forgot to add it to my own youtube channel.

The Crafty Maven Getaway Inspiration Piece 6th-12th March 2016:

I used the dark blues and golden tan color of the bread from the inspiration piece to choose my photos and patterned papers.

The pictures I chose for this layout are of my daughter Emma eating cake and ice cream at her two year old birthday party.

June 19th 2015 sketch by Laura Whtiaekr @ Scrappin' Around the Clock: Sketching for ScrapMuch?:

I found the sketch I used on Pinterest it’s by Laura Whitaker.

New Craft Space

I recently moved my craft space to a different part of out basement so that I could take advantage of any natural light coming in the windows.

image

I’m using all the same furniture as before, but I have re-arranged a few things.

image

I briefly considered painting all the furniture white, but I didn’t want to wait any longer than I had to to have my craft space back in working order.

image

My space is mostly functional, but I hope to add more decorative pieces or to make the functional pieces more decorative.

image

It’s all still a work in progress, but  I’m able to scrapbook and make videos as I continue to work on the space.

Creative Clipboards

A recently altered these clipboards by first painting them with a couple coats of metallic gold acrylic paint and then adding black acrylic paint through a stencil.

image

They turned out ok, but they didn’t match with the feel of my craft space so I repainted them with some brighter colors.

image

Now they are much more cheerful!

You can barely see the stenciled images through the new paint on 6 of the clipboards.  The one with the dragonflies does show through, but I like it.

I did really like the doily stencil and I may try that one again, in white this time.  I also kind of want to give the dandelion stencil another chance.

I’ll post an update it I decided to try the stencils again.

Awesome Cheeky Monkey – scrapbook page

No trip to the St. Louis Zoo would be complete with out a picture with the Phil the Gorilla statue.  Below is a scrapbook page using a picture from several years ago of my daughters, Emma and McKayla, standing by Phil the Gorilla’s statue.

I started the layout by choosing a pink and peach triangle pattern paper from Citrus Twist, but ended up changing it out for a floral pattern paper from the Amy Tangerine Stitched paper pad.  I also used a black and white leaf pattern paper and two other yellow pattern papers from the Amy Tangerine Stitched paper pad.  I added a pink, an orange and a green pattern paper from a 6″x 6″ Colorbok paper pad.

I inked all the edges of the papers and added embellishments from my January 2016 Citrus Twist main kit.  I also used a few chipboard stickers by Amy Tangerine and some black enamel dots.

I love how this page came together!

Citrus Twist Kit – January 2016 Main Kit

I received my first kit club kit!

After watching many of my favorite youtubers using kits on their layouts I began checking into some.

They were all great looking, but I chose the Citrus Twist main kit because it was within my budget and (from what I could tell) it comes with a stamp set each month

I received a few extra things for being a new customer.

  • an extra stamp set
  • a chipboard frame
  • a tag
  • some wood veneer pieces
  • and a piece of flair

The kit came with:

  • a brown paper bag tied with pretty string
  • a page that had sketches and inspiration pieces
  • Heidi Swapp veneer words
  • glittery plus sign stickers
  • Heidi Swapp puffy stickers
  • Citrus twist tiny wood veneer pieces
  • Heidi Swapp phrase stickers
  • Seven Paper alpha stickers
  • a Citrus Twist cut apart sheet
  • 6 patterned papers
  • one white 12 x 12
  • one cream 12 x 12

Below is a video of what came in the kit along with the few extra thing they sent me for being a new customer.

I can’t wait to make some layouts with all theses goodies!

Scrapbook page – I love your smile

I’ve only started scrapbooking this past year so I have a lot of older pictures waiting for me to make pages with.

McKayla is 11 now, but I loved making a layout with this picture of her from when she was a baby.  Her chubby cheeks are gone now, but she still has that cute dimple.

For the patterned paper is used a Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm paper pad by American Crafts.

I matted the photo on black card stock.

I added doilies behind the red and pink script patterned paper strip and the photo.

Around the picture I placed a flower die cut, a yellow circle with a  heart in the middle and a sparkley butterfly sticker.

Below is a process video for the page.

Hiking Adventure Layout and process video

I loved using pieces from my Citrus Twist January 2016 main kit, watercolors and stamps on this layout.

The watercolor was inspired by a Crafty Maven Getaway inspiration piece linked below.

Inspiration Pieces

The photos on this layout are from hiking trip at Cuivre River State Part.  My sister and her husband took my girls and their daughter Katie on this hike as a part of Katie’s birthday weekend.

(I didn’t include Katie or her parents on this page because at the time I did this layout I hadn’t asked them yet if it was ok for me to post photos of them.  I have since asked and now have their permission to include them in future pages.)

image

Most of he  paper for this page came from my January Citrus twist kit, but I did use some scraps to die cut the leaves.

I used my StampeRor to stamp the wild flowers and dragon flies.

I added dragon flies and some black gems to the page after I finished filming, but you can see the rest of the processes in the video below.

Baby Shower Card

This past weekend I attended a baby shower where I gave the mom to be this pink baby outfit card I made which was inspired by several Pinterest pins.

The card base is heavy weight white card stock.

I added a layer of  dark pink card stock to the card base and topped it with a light pink card stock that I embossed with a basket weave embossing folder.

image

For the outfit part of the card I used a circle die to cut out the neck and leg openings.  I used a sunburst die and the circle die to create the white trim around the openings.

To create the arm areas measured about 1 1/2″ from the top of the card, marked 1/2″ in from the side of the card, drew a diagonal line from the mark to the left opening and then cut along the line.

I also added to punched white circles for buttons with dark pink hearts in the middle.

After I had the outfit finished I embossed it with a dot embossing folder and then added it to the front of the card.
